What have we been doing?

It feels like only yesterday that we were sending our 2018 renewal out. Over the course of a busy 12 months we have successfully campaigned for a new de minimis limit on Retail Gift Aid letters, published expert GDPR guidance (for members only), delivered a wonderfully well-received Annual Conference, celebrated the best of our sector with the Charity Retail Awards, kick started our mentoring scheme, encouraged Christmas shoppers to choose charity retail with #GoodCauseSantaClause, and so much more!

What will my charity get?

Our membership continues to offer plenty for you to get your teeth into. We provide free-to-attend events for members, delivering six Special Interest Groups on Gift Aid, People Management, Health and Safety, Stock and Recycling, Property, and Marketing, five regional meetings running across the UK, and Small Charity Groups to provide a focused day for our smallest retail operators. We will also be running training courses on Retail Gift Aid and Recruiting Shop Volunteers in locations around the UK.

Get assured advice from our Primary Authority partner for advice on environmental, health and trading standards. Our legal retainer give members a free 30 minute consultation on topics ranging from property law to fundraising contracts. We also provide policy guidance on the day-to-day running of the shops, such as safeguarding, Gift Aid, security, waste and recycling, to name just a few topics.

Our lobbying arm scored key successes in 2018 and we’re already hitting the ground running this year, meeting Edinburgh South MSP, Daniel Johnson, to discuss shopworker welfare, and pressing the Charity Commission over their new guidance on DBS checking.

You will also continue to have access to cutting edge research on the charity retail sector itself including our Quarterly Market Analysis, Rag, Online Selling and Shop Security Reports.

We hope you will continue to be a part of us and make sure your voices joins charity retailers across the UK in the only trade association and membership organisation that represents charity retailers.
