Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity is using Sustainable Fashion Week to build relationships with local schools across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

“As a local charity we are always looking for ways to engage with and be part of our local community.  When we found out about Sustainable Fashion Week we thought this would be an ideal opportunity for us to offer something back to local schools and also highlight the role of our charity shops in sustainable fashion choices.” says Bonnie Doe, Marketing Manager at the charity.

The charity will be delivering assemblies to students throughout the week and have also developed a range of educational materials to support teachers in the classroom.

“We know that our customers are interested in shopping sustainably, and we hope that this initiative will encourage younger generations to see charity shops as an important part of the choices out there – to extend the lifetime of their outfits by donating their old clothes and to buy preloved. Over the last year our shops kept over 300,000kg of textiles out of landfill and we intend to see that number grow and grow,” says Lily Caswell, Head of Retail.

Sustainable Fashion Week runs from 16 – 25 September 2022 and the Charity Retail Association are a sponsor.
