Camden Town Brewery partner with TRAID to give back and tackle UK clothes waste this festive season

Camden Town Brewery has teamed up with UK charity TRAID to help them on their mission to reduce clothes wastage and its impact on the environment. Introducing the ‘12-Pack Give Back’ initiative, Camden Town Brewery has transformed its Camden Hells Lager 12 packs into reusable handy freepost donation parcels for customers to donate unwanted clothing to TRAID free of charge.

By teaming up with the London-based charity, Camden Town Brewery is rallying up its beer fans support to reduce clothes wastage, starting from their very own wardrobes. During a season of excessive gifting and clothes shopping, Camden’s ‘12-Pack Give Back’ is a quick and simple way to find a better home for your unworn and unwanted garments. Simply fill your empty 12-pack with your clothes to donate, and take to the post office where the pre-paid packages will go straight to TRAID.

Extending the life cycle of your clothes, TRAID will re-use the donations with a number of sustainable solutions. Whether it be re-selling the re-usable items in one of TRAID’S 11 London charity shops, sending them to international textile companies, or recycling them as fabric for industrial cloth or car seat filling.

Jasper Cuppaidge, Founder of Camden Town Brewery, comments: “We’re so impressed and inspired with the work that TRAID do to reduce clothes waste in the UK, encouraging us all to become more sustainable and conscious about the way we shop. We’re really excited to collaborate on this project, promoting great beer and good will, for a great cause”

Maria Chenoweth, CEO at TRAID, says, “We’re delighted that Camden Town Brewery are encouraging their customers to pass unworn clothes on to TRAID for someone else to use. The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world and responsible for around 1.2 billion tonnes of carbon emissions every year which is more than international flights and maritime shipping combined. In this era of climate emergency, giving longer life to our clothes is a practical effective way to reduce the amount we consume and produce, to protect our planet and its citizens.”

To celebrate the new partnership, Camden Town Brewery are hosting the Camden x TRAID Pop-up Shop this Saturday 7th December, featuring the ‘Camden Capsule Collection’ curated by TV presenter and thrifty shopper Laura Jackson. Enjoy a beer whilst you shop from Laura’s picks of the perfect Christmas party outfits, selected from TRAID’s second-hand and vintage rails, as well as items from Laura’s own wardrobe. Plus, everyone who donates an item of clothing will get a pint of Hells Lager, on Camden.
