Rosterfy logo Supported by Rosterfy

Our first social media campaign of 2025 is Charity Retail Resolutions. This campaign encourages behaviour change in favour of charity shops at just the time of year when people are thinking about positive changes they can make in their lives. The assets are below with some suggested text. Please feel free to download and share yourselves, design your own version on the theme, or request for the assets to be branded with your logo. Email susan@charityretail.org.uk with any queries or requests.

Resolution #1
Introduce a friend or family member to the joys of charity shopping. Choose a high street and spend quality time browsing, having a coffee and cake, and sharing your top tips for finding the best items.

Resolution #2
Join the sustainable movement of people pledging to not buy new. Charity shops are the perfect place to ensure you don’t break this resolution, as they are a firm fixture in the reuse economy.

Resolution #3
Give the gift of your time. You might want to break the ‘work from home’ routine for an afternoon per week. Or perhaps you’ve been looking for a way to give back or get involved more in your community. Volunteering in a charity shop is perfect for this.

Resolution #4
Give unwanted presents to charity shops, where they are sure to find a welcome new home, and help a charity too!

Resolution #5
If you are a UK tax payer, every pound that your donations makes can earn an extra 25p for the charity if you sign up to Gift Aid.

Resolution #6
If your resolution is to be more sustainable, make sure you incorporate using charity shops into your thinking. Whether donating or buying, charity shops are part of the circular economy through encouragement of reuse.

Resolution #7
Retail skills can set you up in many work environments, and charity shops are the perfect places to learn. Customer service, till operation, visual merchandising, health and safety, problem solving and more specialist skills around certain categories of item, such as books, vinyl, glassware, pottery – it’s a hands on, fun education!

Resolution #8
Source all kinds of items to help start a new hobby or interest.
