Yesterday (4 July), in further proof of our commitment to the whole of the UK, I was at the National Assembly of Wales to attend the launch of the report of the Supporting Entrepreneurship Inquiry, commissioned by the Cross Party Group on Small Shops.
This fascinating report underlines the importance of reforming business rates, supporting investment, and establishing close communities in developing and regenerating town centres.
Not only was I able to remind people present of the importance of the charity retail sector in this ecology, but also met some useful contacts such as the Chief Executive of the Association of Convenience Stores, and the Director of External Affairs at the Post Office.
It was a worthwhile trip, and good to be able to influence the Welsh Assembly in this positive way.
