Guest blog by Bob Chunilal, Managing Director of Nisyst – charity retail solutions provider.
As we are all aware, GDPR – the General Data Protection Regulation – is a new EU law which will supersede the Data Protection Act from 25 May 2018. For charities, there has been growing concern and confusion as to what this means for them as it introduces new requirements for processing personal data.
In the second quarter of 2018, Nisyst will be launching an updated version of our CHARiot EPoS software for changes required for GDPR. It will be rolled-out to all our existing customers, and any new customers joining the Nisyst family will also benefit from this change.
We recognise the importance of protecting personal data and meeting compliance requirements under the GDPR, especially where our software is processing this information on behalf of our charity customers. Our award-winning CHARiot EPoS and Gift Aid solutions are now in use across more than 1,000 retail outlets in the UK. This is why we have worked closely with our legal advisors and reviewed the functionality of our charity retail software and wider data protection compliance matters, in anticipation of the GDPR coming into force in May 2018.
Later this year, we will be attending the annual Charity Retail Association conference (24-26 June 2018) on stand 20 and have collaborated with them as title sponsor for this year’s awards. Our team will be on hand to chat to anyone wanting to find out more about the changes to our CHARiot EPoS system to meet GDPR requirements, as well as other new functionalities to the software including our Single Scan Barcode and eBay Link.
We are delighted to support the Charity Retail Association’s annual awards as title sponsor, and as members of the association for ten years, we have attended each conference and have seen it evolve into the brilliant event it is today. We take great delight in celebrating key achievements with charities and fellow charity sector providers at the awards, and we’re looking forward to collaborating more closely with the Charity Retail Association.
