Conference spotlight on … learning

Learning is at the heart of our conference this year, with no fewer than 35 focus sessions to choose from. Each focus session has learning outcomes to help you decide if it’s right for you and with 7 themes there really is something for every role.

If your role involves volunteer or people management, take a look at our ‘Impact on Your People’ strand. There are 7 focus sessions within this strand, covering a variety of people topics. Here are just 3 examples for you to consider…

If you book onto ‘How charities can be more inclusive for LGBTQIA+ people to work and volunteer’ your session outcomes include:

  • How to start a discussion around how your organisation can create a more inclusive workspace
  • An understanding of the barriers for LGBTQIA+ people
  • Embracing a change in culture and terminology

From 4.15pm – 5.10pm on Thursday afternoon there is a focus session on ‘Team mental health and wellbeing’ where delegates session outcomes include:

  • A proven mental health action plan
  • A case study exploring how to use the action plan
  • Discussion on self-care and our support when working with staff who share their mental health concerns

On Friday morning we also a focus session on ‘A strong volunteer pathway’ where the session outcomes include:

  • Support planning – how to ensure additional needs are considered
  • Consider – is it always right to accept a new volunteer recruit?
  • Understanding motivations to volunteer
  • Using data to drive actions
