Job description:
We are seeking a Business Development and Retail Manager to deliver the agreed retail plans, through the effective leadership and management of people, resources and budgets.

In May 2017, as part of the new strategic direction of the hospice, the board approved a strategy to pursue further commercial opportunities. John Taylor’s Hospice Corporate Strategy 2017-2020 has shown that the demand for services is likely to grow.  Birmingham’s population is projected to increase by 13% over the next 20 years and therefore a new commercial offering is essential to raise funds to sustain and grow core services. Charity shops are a natural progression for the hospice with the aim of increasing commercial income and reducing reliance on NHS contract income.

We are proud to have opened our first 4 shops in the last 12 months and recruited a fantastic team of shop managers and volunteers.

This new area of income is vital to enable us to care for more people in our community.  Last year we cared for nearly 2,000 patients and their families and we plan to support even more people, earlier in their illness. At the same time we are investing in and driving our retail and fundraising operations to deliver growth in sustainable long term income to fund our care across the West Midlands.

You will drive the continued success of all the retail operations, increasing sales and profits from existing shops and identifying and opening new shops to deliver our strategic ambitions. You will work in partnership with our Director of Income Generation & Marketing to identify, develop and deliver opportunities to acquire new supporters and maximise income from fundraising.

The role:

  • Lead and drive the continued success of our retail operations through the effective leadership and management of people, resources and budget
