As a Commercial Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and managing income-generating opportunities that enhance our established Trading portfolio. Your mission? To maximise trading profits while partnering with local businesses and authorities to implement an innovative upcycling initiative that aligns seamlessly with our innovation strategic goals at the hospice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively investigate and identify new business and partnership opportunities and recommend those to the Head of Retail and Director of Income Generation.
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis and benchmarking for any projects at initial stage and take ownership of the implementation of approved projects.
  • Scope, design and deliver new initiatives to help drive sales across the portfolio such as pop-up shops, markets, end-of-line donations, etc.
  • Lead on expanding the trading offer through introduction of a coffee shop or other food and beverage related projects.
  • Partner with local authorities, colleges and businesses to develop a commercially successful upcycling programme.
  • Scope, develop and lead on the efficient production of new product lines working together with volunteers, designer/makers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Generate any other new revenue streams in conjunction with internal and external partners, monitoring and reviewing the agreed KPIs.
  • Analysing businesses and conducting ongoing due diligence processes for all commercial projects and contracts.
  • Design and implement effective marketing strategy for any new projects working closely with fundraising and communication colleagues to ensure a joined up approach to marketing, PR and income generation.
  • Use project management tools and techniques to implement new ideas and set up new processes as required.
  • Build positive and long term relationships with customers, project partners, all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Gain buy-in and support from the Trading team, ensuring they are engaged and motivated throughout, providing relevant guidance and support.
  • Be responsible for quality assurance checks in all partnerships, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing risk and safeguarding GBCH’s reputation.
  • Responsible for managing project budgets
