Job Description

We are looking for a non-executive Finance Director and Company Secretary, who will support the Charity Retail Association’s Chair and Chief Executive, in ensuring:

  • Scrutiny of finance activities
  • Effective financial governance
  • Effective chairing of our Finance Committee
  • Compliance with company law and the Association’s memorandum and articles of association
  • That records with Companies House are kept up to date

The role will involve attending Board meetings three times a year and the Finance Committee three times a year. The role is a voluntary position. Reasonable expenses will be payable.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Ideally, a financial qualification or qualification by experience
  • Some  understanding of company law
  • Good and independent judgement
  • An ability to give clear advice on procedural matters
  • An interest in charity retail

The role would be ideal for someone with substantial business experience and/or an interest in accounting and/or an interest in the law.

As this role is voluntary (all expenses will be paid), it offers flexibility to fit around your time; however, you will be required up to six meetings a year. Help us make a difference to the charity retail sector.
