Job Description
We are looking for a non-executive Finance Director and Company Secretary, who will support the Charity Retail Association’s Chair and Chief Executive, in ensuring:
- Scrutiny of finance activities
- Effective financial governance
- Effective chairing of our Finance Committee
- Compliance with company law and the Association’s memorandum and articles of association
- That records with Companies House are kept up to date
The role will involve attending Board meetings three times a year and the Finance Committee three times a year. The role is a voluntary position. Reasonable expenses will be payable.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Ideally, a financial qualification or qualification by experience
- Some understanding of company law
- Good and independent judgement
- An ability to give clear advice on procedural matters
- An interest in charity retail
The role would be ideal for someone with substantial business experience and/or an interest in accounting and/or an interest in the law.

As this role is voluntary (all expenses will be paid), it offers flexibility to fit around your time; however, you will be required up to six meetings a year. Help us make a difference to the charity retail sector.
