Job Description

Douglas Macmillan Hospice has 20 charity shops across North Staffordshire, which raise vital funds for the Hospice.   We are continuously striving to develop our commercial strategy to be at the cutting edge of the charity sector, as well as maintaining the hospice identity and profile within the communities we care for.  Our people make the difference to all we achieve, we have a great team and you could be part of this terrific organisation if you have the necessary experience and skills.

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Deputy to work alongside our Community Shop Manager in one of our flagship shops in Stoke on Trent.  The successful candidate will support the Manager by implementing the objectives identified, proactively driving sales and achieving targets as required.  This varied role includes opening and closing the shop, training and motivating a team of dedicated volunteers, promoting gift aid, sorting and processing stock, organising furniture collections and deliveries, promoting high standards of service to customers and donors.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a charity shop and/or retail environment, possess excellent interpersonal/ communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team to get the job done.   Key to the role is the willingness to adopt a hands on approach, flexibility to meet the needs of the business and a passion for charity retailing.
