We seek an outstanding individual for this key role.
You will be a charismatic and inspiring leader to the retail team of Weston Hospicecare, planning and implementing strategies to transform our retail business, by adapting to changing customer preferences and high street pressures, and building our retail income.
As a member of the hospice senior management team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will work at both strategic and operational levels, combining proven charity retail experience with an ability to shape a vision for the future of our shops, online shopping experience, and support logistics. Your personal warmth and encouraging style will build lasting and effective relationships with trustees, colleagues, supporters, patients and families, and will be complemented by a determination for results, drive for continuous improvement and resilience in the face of adversity. The Hospice will rely on your honesty, transparency and creativity married with analytical business acumen and excellent communication skills to take ownership of the retail division to overcome obstacles and drive it forwards.
Weston Hospicecare is located in a quiet village on the North Somerset coast, and was founded by the local community over 30 years ago. We are the major provider of specialist palliative care in North Somerset and Sedgemoor, offering in-patient, community, day care and related services to patients, and bereavement support to their families and loved ones. All our care is provided free of charge to whoever needs it, however it costs approximately £4.2 million every year to provide our full range of services, of which only 20% is funded by the NHS. The remainder is raised each year through a combination of our retail division income, our multi-varied fundraising activities, and gifts in wills.
The retail team relies greatly upon a loyal team of volunteers, as well as our paid staff. As their new manager, you will provide effective and decisive leadership to the team, supporting and coaching each team member to achieve their objectives.
