Due to retirement, we have a fantastic and rare opportunity for a passionate individual to lead our retail operation.
As Head of Retail, you will be an integral part of the wider income generation management team – also working alongside our Head of Fundraising and Head of Marketing and Communications.
You will manage our network of 21 retail shops, as well as our Distribution Centre, furniture team, new goods division, Online retail store and wider e-commerce operations, leading, inspiring and engaging a team of c.65 staff and c.550 volunteers.
Through effective management of people, resources and budget, you will lead our post-COVID recovery and growth strategy, maximising income for hospice care for patients and families living with a terminal illness. As this is such an important role, we’re looking for someone truly exceptional who has a passion for retail and making a difference within the community.
Set up in 1985, St Giles Hospice Shops Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of St Giles Hospice. Its sole purpose is to raise funds for St Giles Hospice and its principal activity is the operation of charity shops for the sale of donated goods. The Company now produces a major and vital source of revenue to help meet the daily running costs of the Hospice. Today there is a group of 21 charity shops in the catchment area of the Hospice with more envisaged. In addition, we have a Distribution Centre, which acts as a depot for the shops, a thriving furniture operation supported by a dedicated team and a successful Online Retail operation.
Following on from this we have a range of bought in goods we sell throughout the year and a popular Christmas card range. We also run small shops at the Hospice sites for the patients, visitors, volunteers and staff. All the shops, except the Hospice sites are run by a full time Manager supported by voluntary staff.
