The Head of Retail Business Development, together with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Senior Management Team (SMT) and other senior colleagues, has strategic responsibility and oversight for the delivery of the overarching Retail function through our existing and planned Retail estate. The post will also play an integral part through feeding back to Mountbatten’s Board of Trustees via the Retail Advisory Group.
This role is responsible for creating, developing and implementing a Retail strategy that meets and exceeds three core aims;
- Maximise the income and profit sustainability of the Retail estate, through the effective development and management of the people, resources, budgets and supply chain, as well as identifying and successfully opening new premises as part of the Mountbatten 2020 strategy
- Create a potential ‘new model’ for some Mountbatten shops that include public education and engaging of the local community in the work of the hospice, including the sharing of information, service delivery, bereavement support and explore a new revenue stream through a food/beverage – led proposition
- To provide overarching responsibility and leadership for the active development of the retail workforce, defining values-based development of all staff and, in conjunction with the Head of Volunteer Development, volunteers in the Mountbatten Group, to reach their full potential and become ‘Ambassadors’ for Mountbatten, through a robust organisational approach to workforce development
