Job description:
Emmaus Hertfordshire, is a homelessness charity providing 39 formerly homeless people, known as Companions, with a safe home environment and the opportunity to work.

We have expanded our very successful social enterprise shops over the last 8 years and are now expanding into several new areas. A part of this growth is into on-line sales and to manage this we are looking to recruit an On-Line Sales and Retail Manager. Based at one of our established shops in Hemel Hempstead we are keen to appoint someone with experience in web-based sales as well as the ability to effectively run the retail outlet and maximise on-site sales as it transitions towards its new identity.

This exciting and challenging role will suit someone who enjoys working with a diverse range of people and is able to deliver results. You should be comfortable managing people and budgets, happy to build links with a wide range of stakeholders, and you should be a good team player who is adept as solving problems.

The successful candidate will responsible for the effective operation of our developing on-line sales and the retail shop with responsibility for:

  • Ensuring the establishment, growth and effective management of all on-line sales
  • Effective management of the identification of stock, accurate up-loading and running of the on-line sales processes
  • Effective management of the day to day running of the shop
  • To optimise sales via all outlets
  • Maintaining effective stock management and merchandising displays
  • Managing and training shop and on-line sales volunteers and companions
  • Experience of working with, and relating to, a diverse range of people
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, coupled with the ability to enable and empower and to remain calm under pressure
  • Knowledge and understanding of homelessness issues
  • The confidence to take on and resolve difficult issues and make difficult decisions
  • Knowledge of data protection

You will be a team player with an empathetic, inclusive and understanding approach. You will be willing to work unsociable hours on rare occasions and to travel locally and nationally. This role reports into the Retail Manager and works closely with the rest of the Emmaus team, the Companions, and a team of volunteers.

Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
