Job Description

The Charity Retail Association is the only Trade Association looking after the interests of charity shops and their parent charities. We undertake a range of activities including lobbying, research, provision of advice and guidance, member events, and training. We are seeking an Administrator who will assist our Research Analyst in all aspects of her work, including database updating, promotion of research amongst our membership, chasing responses etc. This is a hugely interesting job for someone who is interested in research, charity shops, or both!

Responsibilities

  • Admin support – maintenance and updating of:
  • Charity shops database
  • Research contacts on Salesforce and WordPress
  • Research data archive
  • Promotion of research
  • Encouraging participation
  • Contacting members to explain/inform about our research programme (eg, following up mailings with a call)
  • Helping to produce promotional materials (eg asking for quotes, proofreading materials, placing orders)
  • Ad hoc support with research, eg:
  • Assisting in chasing late survey responses and data queries
  • Being able to answer general research queries and/or provide signposting
  • Collating external information for our reports
  • Ad hoc research support to team as necessary

Person specification:

Essential:

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel
  • Experience working with databases and websites
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise effectively, work to tight deadlines
  • Enjoy working within a small team
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working in membership organisations or similar

Desirable:

  • Experience working with WordPress and Salesforce
  • An interest and understanding of charity retail
  • Experience and understanding of working with charities
  • Understanding of working for a not-for-profit
