As you might have noticed, there is a rather important General Election taking place next month. All of the political parties are in the process of finalising their policies and making their pitches to you, the voters.
We are determined to ensure that the future of the charity retail sector is very much a part of this debate, and so for the first time ever ahead of a General Election, the CRA has prepared its very own “Manifesto for Charity Shops”.
The primary ask in our manifesto is that any incoming government clearly recognise the vital social value that the charity retail sector generates for communities, economies and the environment across the UK.
Arising from this primary request are a number of specific asks in four different areas: business rates, volunteering, stock generation, and the environment.
We have sent the document to the manifesto writers at the major political parties and will be using at as the basis of our engagement with politicians as the election campaign progresses. You can also use it as a way to lobby the candidates in your own local areas.
