The charity opened its third shop, ECHO, on Saturday 5th September, and the sales on the first day exceeded their record! ECHO promises an experience unlike any other charity shop, with its focus on sustainability.
East Cheshire Hospice wanted to open a shop that exuded a different ‘feel’ to others, one that was quite unique – and they achieved this. The mixed high end designer and High Street branded clothes are hung on recycled wooden hangers and reclaimed timber boards and scaffolding poles were used to create the fixtures and fittings of the shop.
There is a real focus on encouraging recycling, and the first day, the shop was packed with enthusiastic locals looking to pick up a pre-loved treasure and find out more about how they can help with the recycling efforts. Customers ranged from teeny tiny, to retired folk, and everything in between.
“We wanted to create a sustainable space which provides the ‘treasure hunt’ experience, with something for everyone” says Louise Delany, Commercial Manager of East Cheshire Hospice. “We definitely achieved this, the feedback has been amazing from staff, volunteers and customers alike. We are looking forward to seeing how trading goes over the next few weeks and are optimistic about the future”.
The new shop is based on Park Lane in Poynton, Cheshire and is open Monday to Saturday 9:30am – 4:30pm, with a range of COVID safety measures in place.
