This course is aimed at our members who want to develop their volunteer recruitment strategy. Book online via the links below.
Volunteers are the backbone of any charity retailer. Keeping a steady supply of numbers and talent can be the difference between a declining store and a runaway success. Knowing how to recruit who you need, when you need them, and in the numbers you need, goes a long way to keeping a profitable and productive retail arm.
We are excited to be working again with Matthew Plumridge who will bring his 25 years’ worth of experience in the charity sector to the day and impart his wisdom through a mixture of interactive, practical and fun learning techniques.
What will I be trained on?
The Advert: Identify how and where to advertise for volunteers. Learn the best methods, locations and procedures to advertise and get people excited to, not just want to volunteer, but to want to volunteer with you.
The Description: Does your volunteer role description inspire a possible applicant with a spark of new ideas and potential or does it faze past them like so many others? Create an eye-catching Role Description that makes people zero-in on your post.
The Route: What’s the best way for someone to become a volunteer in your charity? Learn how to outline the different paths someone can take and identify the ones that work best for your charity’s size, resources and type of volunteer activity.
The Interview: You’ve got someone interested and in the room, now make sure that the interview gives you the confidence they can do the role you need and also lets the applicant know there is a world of opportunity waiting for them.
Anything else? Throughout the day you’ll be able to ask questions, compare your experience with others, and get hands on with putting what you’ve learnt into practice. You’ll be able to put forward the specific examples you are dealing with to get an advice that is more than just sound theory but is a set of action points you can put into practice when you return to the shop.
Each course will run from 10am until 4.30pm, with registration from 9.30am. Lunch and refreshments are included with every booking.
Who should attend?
If you are looking at how to increase the number of volunteers in your shop then this course is for you. Previous attendees have come from area manager, retail operation, shop manager, volunteer specific, marketing and similar role positions.
You can attend a one day training course for £120 plus VAT, with an expert trainer and a small group of delegates.
We got in touch with several delegates who attended our course last year. You can read their experiences and how the course has benefited them and their charity retail operations here.
We are also able to offer a small number of bursary places on the course reducing the ticket price to £60 plus VAT. These places are aimed at charities who have five or fewer charity shops.
The bursary places have been kindly sponsored by East London Textiles.
We also have non-member rates for attending the training, although priority is given to members. Please contact us for further details.
