UPDATED: Scottish Government and cash grants

The Scottish Government has announced that retail business in Scotland will now only receive one cash grant of up to £25,000 even where they own multiple retail properties. This in contrast to the scheme in England where the grants are being distributed on a per property basis up to a state aid limit of 800,000 Euros.

This is deeply disappointing news and means that charity retailers in Scotland will not be able to access the level of support that was previously understood to be the case. This will undoubtedly have a significant impact on charity shops in Scotland.

We have written to the Scottish Government asking them to change the grant criteria so that retailers are awarded the grants on a per property basis.
