With the news that the popular ITV show ‘Love Island’, has ended its collaboration with fast fashion to partner with second-hand selling site eBay, local charity Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity has launched a ‘Summer of Love’ themed section on their successful eBay site. The eBay page features a range of swimwear, designer goods, high street labels and an array of accessories.

“We are thrilled that the producers of Love Island have decided to ditch fast fashion and dress the contestants with sustainable clothing sourced from eBay. 65% of UK shoppers are now wearing second hand clothing, and charity shops – both on online and on the high street – are at the very heart of this seismic shift towards sustainable shopping.”
Lily Caswell, Head of Retail at Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity

The charity hopes this collaboration between the show and the selling site will encourage more people to seek out their local charity shop first before heading to the big brands. Last year alone their charity shops saved 304 tonnes of textiles from landfill. And by buying second-hand, customers will also be helping to fund crucial end of life care across Buckinghamshire.
