Tenovus Cancer Care collaborate with Exitus Escape Rooms

Tenovus Cancer Care launched their exciting collaboration with Exitus Escape Rooms during Cardiff Science Festival 15th – 18th February.

Dr Lisa Whittaker, Research Engagement Manager at Tenovus Cancer Care, commented “it was great to be part of Cardiff Science Festival again. This year we joined forces with Exitus Escape Rooms, a family run business in the city centre to create an exciting new escape room. Our new room showcases research we fund at Cardiff University focussing on re-training viruses to recognise and kill cancer cells.”

The backstory which players are told before they enter the room encourages the team to think outside the box about fighting cancer in this exciting race against time.

Do you have what it takes to be a Virus Tinkerer?

The Escape Room was free to play during the Cardiff Science Festival 15-18 February 2020 and a scientist from the lab was in the room with players as an actor/gamesmaster giving clues when needed. There was a donation collection point at the end of the game, which raised over £300 during the 4 day festival. The Escape Room is now a permanent fixture, and prices have returned to normal (£14-£18pp depending on number of players) and Exitus are donating 5% of the sales with Tenovus Cancer Care.

This is a new and innovative charity collaboration and an exciting way for people to learn about the vital cancer research the charity funds in Wales.
