Job vacancy: Head of Public Affairs

The Charity Retail Association (CRA), the trade association for charity shops, is seeking a new Head of Public Affairs following the departure of Matt Kelcher, who is leaving after four years of great success. This is a fantastic opportunity to deploy your public affairs skills and experience in the service of one of the most exciting and vibrant sectors of the economy.

We are looking for someone with experience in working with Westminster, or one of the devolved assemblies, who will be able to move our policy agenda forward as well as communicating effectively with our members, partners, and other stakeholders. You will be self-starting, pro-active, enthusiastic about charity retail, and adept at spotting the consequences of the decisions of Governments and Local Authorities. To get this job, you will need to be able to demonstrate evidence of when you have made a material difference in a policy area, and you will need to be free to travel across the UK.

In return, we offer a fun, friendly and flexible working environment, and a salary of between £40K and £44K, depending on your experience. We also offer a non-contributory pension of ten per cent of your annual earnings. Our culture is one where you will be given a great deal of responsibility and opportunities to flourish, and where co-operation and collaboration take second place to structure.

If you would like an informal conversation about this post, please email Robin Osterley, Chief Executive, on robin@charityretail.org.uk and he will call you within 24 hours. To apply, please send a CV and a covering letter, stating how you meet the aspects of the person specification (attached as part of the job description), to mail@charityretail.org.uk.

Closing date for applications is 5pm on 14 June 2019 with interviews held at our London office on 21 June 2019. Applicants will be shortlisted anonymously and identities will only be revealed during the interview phase.
