“Wear Warm” Campaign


Utilita Energy is launching a national campaign that will support efforts to keep the nation cosy and comfortable over the winter months, and your charity shop(s) are invited to sign up for free to take part. The deadline for signing up is Monday 11 October. Signing up is quick and easy online here.

About the campaign
Charity shops, food banks and community centres are invited to take part in the ‘Wear Warm’ campaign, which educates consumers on the energy-saving benefits of wearing clothes made with natural fibres, to avoid turning up the heating above 18-21 degrees – the healthy home heat. The campaign launches on 1 November 2021.

As the cost of energy continues to increase, this campaign – brought to you by Utilita Energy, the only supplier created to help households use LESS energy – will educate and enable consumers to save money and the planet by choosing clothes and blankets that keep them warm and cosy during the winter months.

Outlets will be provided with a participant window sticker, point of sale signage for the store and shelf, and digital A5 flyers and A4 posters. These can direct consumers to a dedicated section of clothes, accessories and blankets that contain natural fibres, instead of synthetic, which cause your temperature to spike and fall.

The national campaign will also ask the public to donate such items to support the campaign.   

The campaign is run by Sense Communications for Utilita Energy. You may remember the successful ‘Dress to Impress for £10’ campaign that the Charity Retail Association worked on with Sense, which led to a lot of positive coverage and footfall for over 650 charity shops across the UK.

Win energy saving kit for your store
Utilita will invite retail outlets to create a ‘Wear Warm’ window display during the month of November for a chance to win £250 worth of energy efficiency kits for the store. The winning store will also be celebrated on a local billboard for its efforts in helping people to ‘Wear Warm’.

Stores will need to share a photo of their ‘Wear Warm’ window display on social media using the hashtag #WearWarm and tagging @utilitaenergy.     

The campaign will launch on Monday 1 November for a minimum of one month. We will encourage stores to keep it going until the start of Spring (at least) so consumers reap the benefits. We aim to relaunch the campaign each winter. Dates to be aware of include: 

  • Deadline for stores to sign up – Monday 11 October, 2021 (2 weeks to sign-up)
  • Stores receive their packs – WC 25 October, 2021 (week before launch)
  • Competition closes – 30 November 2021
  • Winners announced – early December 2021
