We are a national organisation, promoting the social value generated by charity shops across the UK. Therefore, towards the end of 2017 we were keen to get involved with an influential committee of Welsh Assembly Members, as they investigated how the Welsh Government could support entrepreneurship.
Our submission to the cross party group on small shops inquiry highlighted how volunteering in charity shops can help people to develop retail skills, charity shop managers gain a huge amount of responsibility and learn entrepreneurial skills, and charity shops can boost high streets and town centres.
Tomorrow (Wednesday 4 July) the Cross Party Group are launching their final report. Janet Finch-Saunders AM will provide an introduction to the report as Chair to the Inquiry and a panel of experts will debate how Welsh policy makers can practically support business owners in Wales. Our Chief Executive, Robin Osterley, will be at the Welsh Assembly to take part in the discussion and further promote the role our sector can play in this important policy area.
