The influential Cross Party Group on Small Shops at the Welsh Assembly investigates various matters relating to the economy and high streets in Wales. Last month, its chair, Janet Finch-Saunders AM, wrote to us asking to participate in their new “Supporting Entrepreneurship Inquiry”.
We were delighted to do so and have submitted a document providing evidence under each of the three themes of the inquiry – People, Places, Policy. Our key argument was that volunteering in charity shops can help to equip people with a range of new skills, including those linked employability and entrepreneurship. We recommended that the Welsh Government do more to encourage volunteering in charity shops through better signposting an official accreditation of volunteer programmes.
You can find the full submission on the consultation responses page of the members section of this website.
