Acceptcards (Charity Shop Gift Card Founders) become an Employee Ownership Trust
Guest blog by acceptcards
Corporate Member acceptcards have become employee-owned, adopting an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) model. This means that their brilliant team will acquire the business and have direct involvement in the future strategy of the business. It’s a transaction understood to be the first of its kind in the UK payments sector and a massive positive opportunity for the future of the firm. Richard Bradley, who founded acceptcards in 2005, remains in post as CEO while David Mills, Jo Kava and Sheenah Bond will become trustee directors.
Richard commented “We’ve operated a staff profit share scheme for several years now and this decision is the natural next step to underpin our success. I’d like to thank everybody who has supported this transaction, including Ewan Hall of Baxendales EO and our accountants Justin Smith of Kirknewsholme. He continued, “Aside from the transaction completing, it’s business as usual for our partners and customers. If you’d like to find out how our payment solutions can support your charity, we’d love to hear from you.”
On hearing the news Robin Osterley, Charity Retail Association CEO said “It’s fantastic news that AcceptCards has become an EOT. We’ve been partners since 2020, and in that time we have seen first-hand the ways Richard and the team do business ethically, and are always there to support ways that benefit the charity retail sector.”
