Our current retail network (11 shops) raises critically important funds for the charity and also promotes our mission and service delivery.

We are seeking a self-motivated individual to drive our next stage of retail expansion – successfully opening 5 new shops in our 2024/25 financial year.

This exciting, challenging but rewarding role will require an individual with excellent people management and project management skills, high expectations and the ability to set up and establish successful and high performing new charity retail outlets.

Key responsibilities and Experience 

• To deliver the holistic budget for this new stage of retail expansion.
• To play a key role in the acquisition, shopfitting, launch and sustainability of new retail outlets.
• To oversee the recruitment, training, deployment and performance of new retail staff and volunteers.
• To line manage new Shop Managers (new stage of retail expansion) on an ongoing basis.
• To ensure that the new stage of retail expansion has sufficient donations of stock to deliver income and shop net profit expectations and budgets.
• To maximise Gift Aid income in line with budget expectations.
• To ensure that Health & Safety policy and practice is implemented and appropriate risk assessments are undertaken.
• To seek opportunities to promote the Relate mission via all new retail sites within the local community.
• To ensure that digital marketing opportunities are supported and implemented at all times.
• To ensure that local partnership opportunities, both third sector and commercial, are maximised in order to raise profile, procure stock donations and enhance volunteer recruitment.
• Present plans and period performance reviews to Retail Director as required

Person Specification 

Essential:

• Experience of successful performance management.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Evidence of successful multi-site retail management.
• Project Management experience.
• Budget experience: setting, monitoring and reporting.
• Experience of successfully opening new retail sites.
• Experience of working with, and motivating, staff and volunteers.
• Experience of identifying and mitigating business risk.
• Excellent digital skills.

Desirable:

• Multi-site management experience within the charity retail sector.
• Experience of working with commercial and third sector partnerships.
