Job Description

Wigan & Leigh Hospice is a wonderful place to work. Our services enable people with a life limiting illness to live well for as long as possible, by providing them, and those closest to them, with outstanding care.

Hospices play such an important role in their community, and Wigan & Leigh Hospice is no exception to that. We support almost 1400 people every year, when they need it most.

About the role

Nothing we do is possible without our brilliant team, whose commitment, drive and determination keeps Wigan & Leigh Hospice going.

As Retail Development Manager, you’ll be part of our Business Development Team, who are responsible for bringing in around two thirds of the income the hospice needs. Every day the Business Development Team needs to raise around £12,000 through fundraising, retail and lottery, just to keep the hospice doors open.

We’re looking for someone with a passion for charity retail who will develop our existing hospice retail – made up of ten shops and an eBay shop – and drive forward our ambitious plans for growth.

This is an exciting time to be joining the hospice team as we focus on expanding our income streams to keep our vital services going. As Retail Development Manager, you will play a key role in helping us to realise these ambitions.

What are we looking for?

Someone with a passion for charity retail who is driven by making a difference.

A strong leader with the ability to influence others and bring about change.

Strong communication and management skills, with the ability to get the most out of both staff and volunteer teams.

Someone who can work collaboratively with others in the directorate and across the hospice to maximise every opportunity.

Someone who is committed to upholding the hospice’s values of Compassion, Accessibility, Respect and Excellence.
