Job Description

We’re recruiting a Shops Support Manager to provide support, training, and guidance to our retail teams based in the Midlands and surrounding counties as we grow and open additional stores!

Join us in our mission to make the world a better place for pets and their devoted owners. Let’s make a difference, together!

More about the role

Every day, Blue Cross makes a difference in the lives of thousands of pets and their devoted owners. From providing vital veterinary care and expert behaviour advice to facilitating heart warming adoptions and offering support to those grieving the loss of a beloved companion, our mission is clear: to be there for pets and their people, every step of the way.

With over 55 charity shops across England and Wales, we’re continually expanding our reach. These shops are more than just places to find second-hand treasures; they’re vital hubs where our generous supporters donate goods ranging from clothes and books to toys and household items. And every purchase made helps us support sick, injured, and homeless pets, caring for over 40,000 animals each year through our rehoming, veterinary, and educational programs.

As our Shops Support Manager, you’ll be at the heart of it all. From supporting our senior retail team to providing training and mentorship to both existing and new shops and their teams, your role will be dynamic, fulfilling, and packed with opportunities to make a real difference.

This role offers the flexibility of being home-based while involving frequent travel within a designated region.

About you

If you’re an experienced people manager with a background in retail, we want to hear from you. You’re the kind of person who knows how to inspire and empower teams, who sees the potential in every individual. You’ll need:

  • A full manual driving licence and a willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays when needed.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • A track record of training and mentoring others.
  • Previous experience in a retail environment, with a knack for hitting sales and profit targets.
  • The ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of people.
  • Proficiency in cash handling and reconciliation.
  • Computer literacy, including familiarity with MS Office.

And while it’s not a must-have, it would be great if you also had experience in:

  • Managing volunteers.
  • Fundraising.
  • Remote working.
