Our 2018 research programme findings
Released this morning, our headline 2018 research programme findings revealed that:
- £295m was directly contributed by the charity retail sector to parent charities
- 327,000 tonnes of textiles were kept out of landfill in 2017/18, saving councils £28m in landfill tax
- This reduced CO2 emissions by around 7m tonnes
- Donated goods made up 82.3 per cent of charity retail’s total 2018 income
- There are approximately 11,200 charity shops in the UK
- On average, there were 72 customer transactions per charity shop per day
