Start planning your volunteering opportunities – The Big Help Out is back!

We had a sneak peak at The Big Help Out 2024 when Jeremy Hughes CBE, Convenor at Better Communities came to talk to us at our Annual General Meeting in Leeds on this November.

The 2023 Big Help Out was the first one of its kind, held on the bank holiday weekend of the coronation. Being about giving time, rather than money, charity retail was a key part of it. 7.2 million people took part. 67% of respondents surveyed said they were more likely to volunteer again, and there were lots of great statistics in terms of engagement. There was a large amount of celebrity endorsement and, of course, royal backing.

Given this huge success, The Big Help Out is back in 2024 and there is much more time to plan. It will take place on the final weekend of Volunteers’ Week, Friday 7 to Sunday 9 June. There will be improvements to the volunteering opportunity platform, there be an emphasis on linking up with voluntary organisations across all UK nations, and there will be further emphasis on areas with little volunteering. There is an established partnership with the BBC for extensive coverage, and corporate partners such as ASDA have committed.
